About this hike
Standing 3,776 meters tall, Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest peak and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s long been a place of spiritual ascent in both Shinto and Buddhist traditions. The climb is typically done at night to watch the sunrise from the summit—a symbolic rebirth ritual. Trails are well-marked but steep and often crowded in season.
